A 2-stage exploratory program was carried out to investigate the structural integrity of the Old Aswan Dam. The main goals of the investigation were to:
1) Provide a qualitative assessment of the current condition of the body of the structure and foundation material
2) Provide the physical and mechanical properties and parameters that constitute the ground for quantitative assessment of the integrity of the structure and foundation material
3) Determine the nature of the masonry material, as well as the condition of both the mortar and previously grouted material
4) Characterize the mass permeability of the dam, locks and the foundation rock and provide an assessment of groutability
PROGRAM OF WORK
